10:2 - Unscrupulous

When & Where: I visited with my aunt on Saturday, and we were discussing politics. During our conversation, she called politicians "unscrupulous people."

An unscrupulous public figure.
Definition: According to oxforddictionaries.com, unscrupulous means, "Having or showing no moral principles; not honest or fair."

Level of Familiarity: I've never heard this word before. Because we were discussing the mendacious tendencies of one candidate in particular, I assumed that it had something to do with lying.

Reflective Commentary: I would say that this word is actually more severe than calling someone a liar or saying that something is dishonest. It calls into question a person's character  because of the connotations of immorality and injustice.
